Jack Dorsey has introduced Buzz, a new open-source group chat platform built for teams of humans and AI agents, as Block moves deeper into open and decentralized software tools. Announced Tuesday on X, Buzz is described as model-agnostic, decentralized, self-sovereign, and open source, with a design meant to reduce reliance on products such as Slack. According to Block, the app is built on the decentralized social networking protocol Nostr and combines chat, planning, project management, coding, and pull request workflows inside a shared workspace. Bradley Axen, Block’s head of AI capabilities, said companies will need places where humans and agents can work together, and argued that those environments should be open rather than proprietary. The launch also fits Dorsey’s longer push toward decentralized systems centered on Bitcoin. Since leaving Twitter in 2021, he has focused on payments and Bitcoin adoption through Block’s businesses, including Cash App and Square, while also backing Bitcoin mining hardware.
